Bethany Glaser is the newest addition to our team. Bethany comes to us straight from receiving a BA from Allegheny College this past May, 2010. Her background is diverse, but as you will see, is rooted in the arts and creativity, which is just one of the reasons we get along so well! Since I was curious about her story, I came up with a few questions that will help all of you get to know her as we do, here at Trends To Traditions.
TTT: Bethany, what brought you to Trends To Traditions?
Bethany: I found TTT when I was looking for a summer internship. I was majoring in Performance Production and interested in any job where I could be creative. I’ve always been in the camp of “if you’re doing what you love you never work a day in your life”. Working at Trends to Traditions has been great in that aspect, I absolutely love weddings!
TTT:Why did you choose to get involved in the wedding industry?
Bethany: My interest in the wedding industry goes back to when I was younger. I subscribed to Bridal Guide just to look at all the dresses! I always wanted to design dream gown’s for the Bride. Since then my appreciation has grown to every aspect of the day. I love finding new and different ideas for wedding decor.
TTT: So, you started dreaming at an early age. Love to hear that! Where does your artistic talent stem from? Do you have any inspirations?
Bethany: I grew up in a very crafty family. My Mom and Grandma are constantly getting together to sew and they have always encouraged me to indulge in my creativity. They’ve taught me everything I know. My family is definitely a constant inspiration and we’re always bouncing ideas off each other!
TTT: How lucky you are! Being surrounded by creativity is such a great thing as a child. I feel like you get the opportunity to grow in so many directions, leading you to do so many things. Do you ever wish you could do just one? And if so, which one would you focus most of your time on?
Bethany: I do wish there were more hours in the day so I could do everything! One thing I’ve discovered about wedding planning is you need to understand a little (or a lot!) about everything. With so many different aspects to a wedding, the more you know the better you can help the bride make the best decision. But most recently I’ve taken an interest in floral design. I think flowers play a major role in the wedding decor and I’d like to investigate new innovations in wedding flowers.
Experience is everything when it comes to wedding planning. The more you know about any situation, the better you will be at directing it. Bethany’s talents have helped her along her journey and we are so glad she is taking new directions with TTT. Thanks, Bethany!
